Lemons and Sugar:" Lemonade" that is good for your skin!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A while back, I learned a great skin care tip from another make-up artist, Kandee Johnson (who is an amazing woman by the way!): Lemons and sugar are good for your skin...Yes!!
Here's why lemons are good for your skin:They are an excellent source of vitamin B6, iron and potassium, and a very good source of dietary fiber and vitamin C. They also contain calcium, copper, folic acid, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and zinc. They also are a source of bioflavonoids which protect against damage caused by free radicals!! yay!
Another major plus is that if you have problems with acne, you can rub a slice of lemon onto your skin and then rinse with tepid water to help clear pimples. However, they are acidic,so if you have sensitive skin try diluting it with water. Lemons are also a natural exfoliant and will help to remove dead skin cells to reveal brighter skin.
So, by pairing this wonderful fruit with sugar (which is another great natural skin exfoliant) we create a super sweet skin treat! A lemon juice and sugar face scrub! sounds like Lemonade, doesn't it?

You'll need:

1/2 a lemon or lemon juice (you can use the concentrate kind)
a round cotton pad
some sugar!

Now what to do with that:

Pour some lemon juice on your cotton pad
Dip it on the sugar
and in circular motions, scrub away for about 2 minutes!
then rinse!

How often??
if you have oily or combination skin: 2-3 times a week
If you have normal, sensitive or dry: 1-2 times a week and separate the days.

AND REMEMBER! ALWAYS USE SUNSCREEN ESPECIALLY AFTER DOING THIS!

Want to do it my way? Okay!
Here's how I do it:
I keep a small plastic container filled with sugar (I like to have it handy!)
I also use 1/2 a lemon and a cotton ball
I squeeze a little juice on the cotton ball and apply the juice to my face, then I dip the cotton ball in the sugar and scrub away! sometimes I like to just use my fingers to scrub my face.

Note: right now during winter I scrub my face 3-4 times a week (I know that's a lot!). I don't always use the lemon though. I just mix the sugar with my current face wash and scrub away.I do this only because I know my skin's tolerance and I have seen significant difference in my skin from doing this.

How often do I do it?
2-3 times a week and I have combination skin, but its dry during winter time.

I have been doing this for a couple of months now and I have seen some wonderful results on my skin. I have past acne scarring around my chin and sun damage for not being sun conscious in my early 20's, which caused my skin's texture to look rough and brought on some fine lines! eww!
Every time I do this my skin feels smooth, clean and refreshed! and now, my skin looks brighter,is smoother and feels super soft! it also receives my moisturizer so much better, it doesn't feel like it just sits on top.
I also have noticed a great reduction in my fine lines (the curse of having fair to light skin and from being exposed to too much sun without protection!) and my skin is firmer than it was before!!
Of course I wouldn't recommend anything I haven't tried on myself first! And I definitely recommend that you try this as well!! Let me just add one more thing! It has also kept my breakouts at bay!! yay!! I don't suffer from acne like I used to, but I did break out sometimes and now, I don't!!
I hope you give this skin care tip a try and that it works marvelously for you too! I would love to hear if any of you do try and know your results!!
So drink your lemon water and use your lemonade scrub!!! lol!
